Training & Ongoing Support

You don’t need to have swung a hammer or read a zoning map before you open a Benson ADU Builders franchise. What you need is the willingness to run a local business the way homeowners actually want it run. We teach the rest. Our training starts with the trade and goes all the way through marketing, software, hiring, and running your first jobs. By the time your doors open, you’ll speak setback requirements and prefab panel lead times like someone who’s been doing this for years. Because you will have been doing it, under supervision, before your first customer ever calls.

Initial Training

A new modern ADU with wood cladding

Week one is about the product. You’ll learn ADU construction from the ground up: site evaluation, foundation work, utility connections, prefab panel assembly, and finish carpentry. We teach you the difference between Abodu and Cover and Dvele, when Boxabl makes more sense than Mighty Buildings, and why Tuff Shed belongs in some conversations but not others. You’ll learn to read a property line and know, in feet, what the setback requirement actually means for a homeowner’s buildable area. We keep the jargon short and the practical long.

From there we move into operations. You’ll work through our playbooks on project pricing, written estimates, scheduling, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That promise isn’t a slogan; it’s the operating rule for every job. Week two covers the software stack: how to build quotes, send photo updates, and text digital invoices the customer can pay from their phone. Week three focuses on hiring, training, and dispatching background-checked, uniformed technicians. Week four is marketing: how to generate leads from day one, answer the phone when it rings, and follow up without being pushy. By the end of month one, you’ll have hands-on practice across every system your business runs on. And if any of that feels like too much, we slow down. The goal is competence, not a certificate handed out on a schedule.

Launch Support

When your location opens, the training doesn’t stop; it shifts to live fire. We help you set up local marketing before you cut the ribbon: local search listings, a website built to convert phone calls, review generation from your first handful of jobs, and ad campaigns targeted to homeowners within your service area. We’ll coach you through the first three or five or ten projects, depending on how long it takes you to build real confidence, not just checkboxes. You’ll have direct access to a launch coach who reviews your estimates, your job photos, and your customer emails. The point isn’t to hover like a corporate handler. It’s to catch small problems before they become one-star reviews. When your first homeowner asks you why there’s a price change at the door, your answer is easy: there isn’t one. That’s the brand promise working for you, and we’ll stand next to you while it does.

Ongoing Support

After launch, you’re not on your own. Our support structure is built to be a backstage crew, not a boss dropping in once a quarter:

  • Field coaching. Your regional coach visits your site, rides along on estimates, and helps you close the jobs you’re still unsure about. No surprise visits. Everything is scheduled and purposeful.
  • Marketing desk. We handle creative assets, ad templates, and seasonal campaign ideas. You handle the local relationships. Homeowners trust a neighbor, not a national ad agency.
  • Vendor relationships. We’ve negotiated terms with our prefab partners, Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, Plant Prefab, and Tuff Shed. You get better lead times and better pricing without having to build those relationships from scratch.
  • Technology updates. The software you use gets maintained and updated by our team. You focus on selling, building, and answering the phone. We keep the tools sharp.
  • National brand campaigns. The Relay Home Co. name and the Benson brand get national visibility. Your local business benefits from every dollar we spend on brand awareness, because trust is already half-built when a homeowner recognizes the name.
  • Live peer network. You’ll have direct access to other Benson owners around the country. Swap what’s working, borrow what’s already battle-tested, and never sit alone with a problem longer than an afternoon.
